About Us: The KW Way.
Find out all about who KW is, what the team is proud to champion & how we would love to work with you…
Whether you are aspiring to be better and do better, are already stuck into your sustainability journey but could be better at shouting about it, or need expert input on what step to take next, the team here can support you with all of it.
Good marketing agencies aren’t ten a penny, but there are plenty who seem to be powered by bragging rights. That’s just not us.
At KW, opportunities are grabbed with both hands and feet and anything else we’ve got, and most importantly for you – we work hard to do exactly what we say we’re going to do. Not forgetting practising what we preach.
This year sees KW take the next step in its own sustainability journey, with a mission to secure B-corp status high on the agenda.
The team is focused on making sure positive and planet-friendly experiences sit at the heart of our client’s businesses as well as our own. How? By building strong, long-lasting relationships that deliver long-term results. Of course. Come on, who doesn’t like working with good businesses, to do good things? It’s really that simple. Or at least it should be.
We are a work in progress, but we truly believe that we're heading in the right direction.
Alex and Louise set up Knapton Wright in 2014. Having clocked in at the likes of Facebook, TBG Digital Marketing, lastminute.com and the Further Education sector, the pair clocked out with a unique view of what they believe made the ideal agency. We’d say the perfect agency but, there’s no such thing as perfect, right?
With an eye-opening perspective earned at multinationals, SMEs, and everything in between, our founders had compiled a pretty long list of which dos and don’ts needed ticking off to create an inspiring agency rather than a functional one.
An agency that signed, sealed, and delivered opportunities that real businesses, run by real people, could tap into. Opportunities to give businesses the space and guidance to be the best version of themselves in collaboration with other creative minds from their sector. An agency with people and partnerships at its heart.
While Knapton Wright may have started life as a social media specialist agency, working with brands to help them understand how to leverage the power of their platforms, things have changed.
Thanks to Louise’s family roots running deep into Lincolnshire’s agricultural industry, her links put Knapton Wright in front of a number of farming and environmental businesses in the early days. An audience that, although unknowingly at the time, formed the very backbone of how the agency runs today.
A renewed focus on ‘green’ marketing was a natural leap for us. And while the evolution of Knapton Wright into this sustainable niche has felt very organic, it has been based on some nerdy analysis, courtesy of Rob aka RJJ.
Ah, Rob... now before we really geek out on you, we should probably skip back in time for a hot minute or two. Rob needs a little bit of explaining…
Back in 2014, when the agency was taking its baby steps, the stars aligned – Alex and RJJ crossed paths. Having bonded over a passion for digital creativity, a love of the great outdoors and marrying into farming families, it was love at first sight for Alex and Rob.
It took five years to find a Rob-shaped loophole and when we did, it’s safe to say he jumped aboard faster than a rabbit out of a hat... with a bat and a six-foot Impala. Okay, enough Skee-Lo.
Aligning with our renewed vision to use a marketing agency to raise the aspirations of businesses and people interested in the creative sector in the region and in the most sustainable way possible, Rob brought with him 16 years of public service, working for local authorities and housing associations across the Yorkshire and Humber region. It wasn’t just tweeting about potholes and dog poo; Rob was managing creative teams who developed award-winning campaigns and social media.
As a self-confessed nerd, Rob brought a stack of technical and creative experience to the agency and to the team. A driving force in scaling up our design and development operations, since Rob joined, we’ve been able to bring in a creative development manager, an SEO specialist and a junior web developer meaning our design and build offering is incredibly strong – find out for yourself in our growing Case Study library.
Looking back over the books, at the partnerships we’ve made, the work we’ve done well, and what we are passionate about beyond marketing, a trend began to emerge. A big, wind and solar-powered sustainable trend.
Across our super-star team, we’re already creating high-performing platforms that enable businesses to be even more successful and with a minimal, positive impact on the planet. Our niche was staring us straight in the face – and the best part? We have already been making businesses more sustainable, businesses such as myenergi and Sea2Soil – so why not take it one step further and saddle up purely with businesses that want to be cleaner and greener, working towards helping our planet thrive?
In practice, this means Rob and the team get to be really geeky. We identify a carbon output baseline of your existing website and platforms and create replacements that emit less carbon. They load faster, are more efficient, and are hosted on servers running on 100% renewable energy.
Sitting on the doorstep of the Energy Estuary here in North Lincolnshire and the Humber, we want to play our part – and a very active part at that - in growing the influence of our thriving sustainable industry.
We couldn't do what we do without a little help from our friends. Not just friends though: if we work with them, then they're representing us. Therefore, we fully endorse the quality of their work and hand-pick only the best partners to collaborate with.
Our current crop of specialist freelancers that support us are below...
Are you next? Give us a shout. We are a work in progress, but we truely believe that we're heading in the right direction. We want you to come on this journey with us, but we have some ground rules that make us who we are. We are fiercely not for everyone, and neither should you be, and that itself should be celebrated.
There’s no set framework you have to squeeze into or assembly line of clients here.
We work with you in a solid partnership, driving you and your business forward. Based on an equal understanding and appreciation, of your expertise and ours. Because that makes everyone happy.
We want to work to put people and positive experiences at the core of both your business and ours.
For us, that comes down to curating a team that is skilled at building deep-rooted relationships in order to deliver long-term results. Because that's what we're all about. And we hope you are too.
We know there will be flings, some short but never-the-less sweet relationships that happen along the way but we're looking to start settling down.
From experience, we know that when you put the time into creating a meaningful relationship, knowledge and ideas flow both ways. Your expertise supports our creativity and vice versa.
Those tangible, long-term results that will really elevate your business only come from big-picture planning and effective execution. Flash-in-the-pan plans, unfortunately, just aren't sustainable when you're looking for results that have staying power.
We don't want to be the dictator in this relationship but we aren't going to be the wallflower either. We will challenge you, we will speak our minds and we will tell you if an idea is, well, rubbish. In the nicest way of course.
We don't want to waste your time or anyone's energy fannying around with a campaign or strategy we know will simply not deliver, just because we're afraid of speaking our minds. That's not us. And we don't want that to be you either.
If 'this' is going to work, lines of communication need to be open and mindful. And always with a positive purpose and the promotion of a sustainable culture at heart.
As we said, we know not everyone will be ready to settle down and take the plunge. There will be some of you out there looking for something specific. Support and expert insight into key areas of your digital marketing development.
You may ask, do you do SEO, PPC, social media management and website builds?' and the answer of course is a resounding 'yes'. In fact, we can do all of it - just check out our services list.
But you know what? If you ever want to turn this fling into a steady relationship, we can do so much more.
It's always a pleasure collaborating with the Knapton Wright team. Their down-to-earth attitude, coupled with their big ideas and industry experience, means that together we can produce campaigns that don't just get results but that our clients can be super proud of!
At Knapton Wright, sustainability and of course sports are at the heart of everything we do. One of our standout projects features Scunthorpe United, a local sports club that embodies our commitment to community and the environment.
Through innovative marketing strategies and a website refresh, we helped them enhance their outreach and engage their supporters while promoting sustainability initiatives.
