What does a year into an apprenticeship at KW look like?
It’s incredible how much can happen in a short period of time. To say that I've been on my Knapton Wright apprenticeship journey for over a year now blows my mind. It feels like five minutes!
Since my last blog update, I’ve navigated a whirlwind of exams, new experiences, and personal growth. It’s been a transformative time, and I’m excited to share what’s been happening.
Milestones and Achievements
The last few months have been marked by a series of exams and certifications. I’m thrilled to share that I successfully obtained my Google Analytics IQ certificate - a certification that not only boosts my understanding of Google Analytics but also equips me with the analytical skills to make data-driven decisions - an essential skill in today’s digital landscape.
Alongside this, I passed my coding exam, which was a less thrilling adventure and more like trying to solve a Rubik's cube blindfolded. However, I survived and even got the qualification to prove it. Learning to code has opened up a whole new world to me, it’s oddly satisfying typing a few lines of what is seemingly just nonsense and seeing it come to life. Understanding code has given me the ability to bridge the gap between creative ideas and technical execution.. well...
And that hasn’t been the only exam of late… next was my final exam on online/offline marketing. A bit like the final boss in a 90s video game, this was the big one. It allowed me to revisit and focus on digital marketing strategies in a wider sense, from social media and SEO to email marketing, and analytics.
By being able to undertake these exams as part of my apprenticeship I’ve been able to stay ahead of the curve as such, with up-to-date knowledge on the latest tools and platforms. Likewise, I was able to dive into traditional marketing tactics like print marketing and the importance of adapting to different audiences. Since gaining these certifications I feel more prepared than ever to tackle the rapidly evolving digital world as we know it today.
Recognition and New Roles
National Apprenticeship Week was another highlight, celebrating the value and impact of apprenticeships. During this time, I was honoured to be shortlisted for Lincolnshire’s Champion Apprentice - a recognition that, although I was ultimately unsuccessful in winning the title, filled me with a genuine sense of pride. The nomination alone was motivation for me to continue striving for excellence.
In a new and exciting development, I was invited to become an Apprenticeship Ambassador for the Greater Lincolnshire LEP. This role is incredibly meaningful to me, as it allows me to advocate for the benefits of apprenticeships and support others who are just beginning their journey. Being able to give back to the community in this way is something I’m deeply passionate about, and I’m looking forward to the opportunities this role will bring.
Growth and Resilience
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its ups and downs. There have been moments of self-doubt, challenges to overcome, and lessons learnt. But through it all, I’ve grown, developed new skills, and continued on a path of personal and professional development.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been the opportunity to experience things I never imagined I would - attending events, awards ceremonies, and agricultural gatherings like Cereals and Groundswell. These experiences have not only expanded my knowledge but also allowed me to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, deepening my understanding of the different industries.
Moving to a new office
Equally, the last time I wrote a blog regarding my apprenticeship journey, we undertook an exciting change in our move to a new office. This transition has brought fresh energy to my daily routine, and the new environment feels like a perfect fit for the growth and opportunities that lie ahead.
Working in a dedicated space, surrounded by like-minded colleagues, has been beneficial for us all in that being in the same room has allowed for instant communication making ideas discussions and the resolution of any issues quick and easy.
Being able to undertake an apprenticeship in an office full of incredible people is an experience, to say the least. From day one, you’re not just learning the ropes of the business but also soaking in the wisdom and energy of a team that genuinely wants to see you succeed. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities where I’m constantly encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, and grow both personally and professionally. Working alongside such inspiring individuals not only helps enhance my skills but also ignites a passion for my chosen field.
Looking Ahead
As I reflect on this season of growth, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunities I’ve been given and the support I’ve received along the way. The journey is far from over, and I’m excited to continue pushing boundaries, learning new skills, and embracing the challenges that come my way.
