Come on, let's go
This May, Tazz Shaw is taking on the Brathay 10in10 this May. One full marathon every day for ten days, back-to-back, to raise money for Brathay Trust. Not all heroes wear a cape, but Tazz is going to, for Brathay!
And, as the hype team no one asked for, we’re proud to be supporting Tazz by running the same distance over the same 10 days. Slip some trainers on and come along for the ride…

Wait! Who's Tazz?
Good question…we’ve known Tazz since working with The Crown Estate via Projekt Renewable’s Plant + Paddle events. Now under the ownership of North East Lincolnshire Council, Projekt Renewable landed in 2023 to engage people in the area with the future prospects that existed in the Renewable Energy industry that was flourishing on their doorstep, with The Crown Estate as a lead sponsor.

Bringing together a collection of folk who championed preserving the planet and the work needed to make that happen, we were thrilled to have led the charge on its marketing and comms, while Tazz, Harriet and the team lent their expertise to community and intern engagement.

Safe to say we feel like we met ‘one of our people’ and it turns out, Tazz felt the same. Phew!

In January, Tazz announced he’d signed up to something properly ambitious: the Brathay 10in10. One full marathon every day for ten days, back-to-back. It is a challenge that will test every part of a person. Body, mind, resilience, and grit. Tazz is doing it for a reason and a cause that will carry him through, and we’re ready to provide a little help in our own KW way.

What is Brathay Trust?

Inspiring young people across the UK to build their brighter futures, Brathay Trust works with children and young people facing real-life challenges. The kind many adults would struggle with.

But what sets Brathay apart is how it harnesses challenge and the outdoors to help young people discover something quietly life-changing. Not only can they do hard things, but they can overcome them. Not because someone tells them they are capable, but because they experience it for themselves. Celebrating 80 years this year, the Trust has supported over 7,000 young people each year of its existence, inspiring growth and positive change that lasts a lifetime.

For Tazz, it’s a cause close to his heart.

It's a buddy system!

What is the Brathay 10in10?

The Brathay 10in10 is ten marathons in ten consecutive days. Seesh. No rest days. No shortcuts. Just showing up, again and again, and getting it done.

Most of the KW team loves running. Some of us tolerate it. But all of us understand what it means to take on something hard, train for it, and keep going when motivation dips.

So we are doing two things:

  • We are running alongside Tazz, in our own way. Each member of the KW team will run three miles a day while Tazz is running the 10in10, so, collectively we run a marathon a day too!
  • We are supporting Tazz’s fundraising and encouraging our community to do the same.

A challenge not for the faint of heartWe know how challenging something like this can feel, especially when it all rests on one pair of shoulders. And that’s alongside day-to-day commitments.

It’s a BIG undertaking, and we wanted to show Tazz some support in a way that feels genuinely genuine.

And yes, there is already some friendly competition brewing in the office.

Alex has been threatening a team parkrun for a long time, and this feels like the perfect excuse to put the team through its paces, while getting Alex ready to run his first Ultra in September, and bringing a bit of energy and friendly shoulders as Tazz builds-up to the 10in10 beginning on May 1st.

We will be sharing updates from Tazz and the KW team as the 10in10 draws closer - so you can stay up-to-date with what’s going on, how Tazz is feeling, and our much less impressive efforts as we try to keep up.

The cape sponsorship

Yes, it's a real thing
To raise as much as possible, Tazz is getting a running cape made and offering space on it to sponsors.

If you, or your company, would like your logo on the cape, Tazz will be wearing it while running and sharing updates along the way.

If you would like to get involved, slide into his inbox and get chatting!
